Collaborating with models and other photographers is always fun. Tine’s personality fits the moody portrait themes that I had in mind.
I’ve met Tine through a friend that I’ve worked in previous collaborations. The model brought her own wardrobe and wore her own make-up. We want to keep the shoot as natural as possible.
I have used the following to achieve these shots:
- Nikon D750, a very capable full-frame camera that I use in wedding events due to it’s superb low-light performance
- Nikon AF 80-200 f/2.8 lens, a top pro zoom at the time
I have used a shoot-through umbrella and one off-camera flash to achieve these photos. I placed the flash 45 degrees from the model’s perspective.
Tine can easily follow instructions in posing so I didn’t have any hard time. I asked her to act certain emotions to make the facial expressions realistic.
I used dark, moody tones to convey a message of deep, mixed emotions and indicate drama in my shots.
