This page shows a collection of various portraits of Aliah.
I’ve met Alia in one of the photography events in our country. She is very passionate in modeling. Based on her outfit, I chose a street-themed shoot.
Her hair and make-up artist is Maria Christina Nunez.
I have used the following to achieve these shots:
- Nikon D750, a very capable full-frame camera that I use in wedding events due to it’s superb low-light performance
- 80-200 f/2.8 lens, a top pro zoom in its time but still provides very sharp results and great image quality
- Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8D
My style depends on the concept or story that I want to convey. It’s a mix of available light and one off-camera flash photography. For the off-camera lighting, I use a Yongnuo flash and a shoot-through umbrella to soften the light source which flatters my subjects.
Posing is very crucial so I ask my subjects to relax. I talk to them first, get to know them and try to win them. Once they are comfortable then the job becomes easier. This is very crucial in women portraits as you want to make them look flattering in the final output.
Aliah knows some posing but she still needs direction and that’s why as a photographer, you need to know how to direct the model.
I post-process my images depending on the theme that I’m shooting. For this concept, I used a subtle chocolate tone.
