This page shows a collection of various women portraits that I’ve shot over the years.

The Details

The photos shown here are from various photography events that matched my taste in women portraits. The wardrobe is a mix of works from Fanny Serrano, Renee Salud, Joy Que and James Paul. Make up artists involves Joy Que, Lubeth Vergara and a lot more.

I have used the following to achieve these shots:

  • Nikon D750, a very capable full-frame camera that I use in wedding events due to it’s superb low-light performance
  • Canon Rebel
  • Nikon AF 80-200 f/2.8 of 1988, a top pro zoom in its time but still provides very sharp results and great image quality
  • Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8D

My style depends on the concept or story that I want to convey. It’s a mix of available light and one off-camera flash photography. For the off-camera lighting, I use a Yongnuo flash and a shoot-through umbrella to soften the light source which flatters my subjects.

As a photographer, I am expected to direct the poses. It is very crucial for my subjects to relax so I talk to them first, get to know them and try to win them. Once they are comfortable then the job becomes easier. This is very crucial in women portraits as you want to make them look flattering in the final output.

I post-process my images depending on the theme that I’m shooting. For conceptual photography, I tend to use moody and dramatic tones similar to what we see in cinematography.
